Milton Odera Awuondo, aged 35, was apprehended and detained at the Bondo police station after cannabis seeds were discovered in his possession.
The arrest occurred last night at Awuondo’s residence in Usire Village, situated in the West Sakwa location of Bondo sub-county.
Siaya County Police Commander, Mr. Cleti Kimaiyo, disclosed that Bondo police station officers acted upon a tip-off from the public, suspecting Awuondo of cultivating marijuana.
Kimaiyo stated that law enforcement personnel proceeded to Awuondo’s residence, nestled within a spacious 30-acre compound, and took him into custody based on the received intelligence. During a subsequent search of his home, various containers holding seeds believed to be cannabis sativa were seized.
Further investigations extended to Awuondo’s farm and forested lands, yet no mature cannabis plants were found.
The suspect is slated for arraignment on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
