A Nairobi-based mother of one has sparked nationwide discussion after publicly condemning her ex-lover for allegedly abandoning her and their young daughter under unclear circumstances.
The woman, identified as Kerubo Mayaka, went viral after sharing her emotional story, accusing her ex-husband of walking out of their marriage and failing to support their child’s education.
According to Kerubo, her ex-lover left without explanation, leaving her to single-handedly raise their daughter in Nairobi. She claims he has completely distanced himself from parental responsibilities, refusing to pay school fees or provide any form of support.
Her story drew widespread attention following the release of the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results. Despite the challenges of being raised by a single mother, Kerubo’s daughter performed well, earning a B-minus grade, a success Kerubo proudly shared as proof of her daughter’s determination and focus.
Videos circulating online show Kerubo addressing members of the public, particularly residents of Kisii County, where she originates. She openly criticized her estranged husband, accusing him of neglecting parental duties while taking no responsibility for the sacrifices made in raising their daughter.
Kerubo urged community members not to welcome or allow her ex-lover to visit their daughter, claiming he only showed interest after hearing about her academic success. She warned that if he appeared without her consent, she would want him detained until she could address the matter herself.
