The recent heavy rainfall in Nairobi on the evening of April 27 resulted in flooding at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport’s Tower Avenue Underpass.
The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has taken immediate action by cordoning off the affected area with security teams and police to ensure the safety of all airport users and personnel.
Despite the flooding, normal flight operations at the airport are still in progress, and access to all terminals remains open, according to KAA.
However, until further notice, all vehicles are advised to use the main entrance to enter and exit JKIA.
KAA expresses gratitude for understanding and cooperation from all parties involved as they work diligently to manage the situation.
Additionally, Kenya Airways (KQ) has announced the diversion of several flights due to the heavy rains and poor visibility in Nairobi. This diversion may result in extended delays for some departures from Nairobi, and KQ apologizes for any inconvenience caused to their customers.
