In a video released on their YouTube channel in March 2024, Nicholas Kioko, a prominent content creator, alongside his wife Wambo Ashley, warmly invited viewers into their household compound, offering a glimpse into their cozy abode.
Their home, nestled in the rural village where Kioko hails from, comprises two bedrooms—a master bedroom and a separate one tailored for their twins, joyfully welcomed into the family in 2023.
Adorned with vibrant colors such as orange, black, and white, reminiscent of police station hues as remarked by a section of their fanbase, the house exudes a distinctive charm.
Kioko, undeterred by online criticism directed at their home, confidently addressed naysayers during an interview with Kenya Online Media on April 4.
Asserting his stance, the father of two emphasized that external judgments hold no sway over him, dismissing negative comments with ease. “It did not affect me. Those who speak ill should go and build their own. I do not have time for them. Some are hurt in their own lives and force themselves to hate. Others are sent by competitors to leave negative comments on my video,” Kioko remarked.
Despite facing scrutiny, Kioko took pride in their residence, recognizing it as a cultural emblem within the Wakamba community. He shed light on the tradition of bringing one’s coffin into the house before burial, underscoring the significance of homeownership in his culture. “I am proud of our ‘police station’. As Wakamba men, it is essential to build a house. When you pass away, your coffin is brought into your house before burial. So, the first step is to establish a home,” he explained.
While acknowledging his wife’s sensitivity to online criticism, Kioko assured her that such comments hold little weight in the broader context of their lives. “For my wife, it affects her deeply. She feels bad, but at the end of the day, I remind her that these are just internet things. Especially those negative individuals, they are the worst fans you could encounter,” he shared.
Looking forward, Kioko disclosed plans for an upcoming Kamba Festival, a collaborative effort with his friend Ricky B. Motivated by a dearth of events spotlighting Ukambani artists, the festival aims to unite local talents for a day of jubilation on May 4, 2024.
Anticipated attendees can expect a lively gathering replete with music, dance, and communal spirit as the community rallies together to champion its artists and nurture unity.
