After investing deeply in his relationship with Aisha, Selemen Hussein found himself abandoned and destitute, forced to collect and sell plastic bottles to survive.
Hussein was deeply in love with Aisha, whom he supported both financially and emotionally throughout her education.
“I sold cars, land, and business shops to fund her education, stipend, and to pay off her debts, but she betrayed me. Why did you do this to me, Aisha?” he cried out in anguish during an interview with Afrimax English.
His unwavering commitment was met with betrayal when Aisha chose to leave him for another man, even after he had sponsored her education, allowing her to study in Canada.
“I was moved by compassion to help her when she told me about her overwhelming financial burdens. As a loving and caring boyfriend, I sacrificed my possessions and business to support her, but she turned against me,” Hussein said, his voice heavy with sorrow.
Despite being left homeless and abandoned by both his lover and family, Hussein refused to give in to despair. Instead, he found a sense of resilience in the simple act of collecting and selling plastic bottles to survive.
“My parents had warned me about the dangers of mixing love and money. Now, I’m left homeless and destitute, as my family has also turned their backs on me. I collect and sell plastic bottles to make a living,” he shared, his pain evident.
