Hollywood Based kenyan born Lupita Nyongo to be promoted for tourism role in kenya

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza has announced that Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong’o is in talks to become Kenya’s tourism ambassador. In addition to Lupita, the ministry plans to work with influencers and celebrities to boost the country’s tourism industry to global prominence.

Malonza stated that she is making progress in her discussions with Lupita and expects her to come on board soon. She also mentioned that they plan to reach out to other influencers like Eliud Kipchoge, one of their current brand ambassadors.

This is not the first time the Tourism Ministry has considered Lupita as a potential ambassador. In 2021, there was controversy over the appointment of British model Naomi Campbell as the Magical Kenya International Tourism Ambassador, with many Kenyans questioning why Lupita or TikTok star Elsa Majimbo were not considered.

Balala, the then Tourism Cabinet Secretary, justified the appointment by claiming that the ministry had been unable to reach Lupita for the past five years. However, Lupita disputed Balala’s claims and shared a photo of herself laughing in response to the controversy.

Overall, it appears that Lupita may soon take up the role of promoting Kenya’s tourism sector, and the ministry is looking to work with other influencers and celebrities to further boost the industry.
