Ferdinand Omanyala, the fastest man in Africa, expresses profound gratitude for his wife, Laventa Amutavi, whose unwavering belief in his dreams has been instrumental in his success.
Omanyala acknowledges that during his challenging times, Amutavi provided him with financial support, serving as a pillar of strength. Their paths crossed in 2016 at a kibandaski, where they initially met. Omanyala was instantly captivated by Amutavi, but it took him seven months to win her heart.
During this period, Amutavi was pursuing a degree in social work at Moi University, while Omanyala was studying at the University of Nairobi. As an athlete, Omanyala’s income was meager, making Amutavi’s financial assistance crucial to the well-being of their family.
Given the minimal earnings from Omanyala’s athletic pursuits, Amutavi’s support played an indispensable role. The prize money he earned from winning races, amounting to a mere Sh5,000, fell short of covering the family’s expenses. Despite these financial challenges, Amutavi’s faith in Omanyala’s dreams remained unwavering. She became his staunchest advocate, aiding him in maintaining focus on his aspirations.
As Omanyala’s athletic career soared, he gained recognition and attracted the attention of numerous admirers. However, he remained dedicated to his wife and family. He chose to ignore private messages from women with ulterior motives, engaging only with individuals who possessed genuine intentions.
During an interview with The Standard, a Kenyan newspaper, Omanyala stated, “Although I receive many messages from women, I disregard them. I am happily married and committed to my wife.” He further emphasized, “While I acknowledge that some are attracted to my success, my only interest lies with my wife.”
Omanyala and Amutavi have been married since 2018 and are blessed with a child. Their unwavering partnership continues to fuel Omanyala’s pursuit of greatness in the world of athletics.
