The social media most used apps worldwide are currently down after the first report was made about two hours ago.
DownDetectors said that the issues was detected at around 16:44 BST, 11:44 ET.
According to NetBlocks, it is estimated that the issue has caused the global economy $160m hence dropping Facebook shares by five percent.
It is not yet known what caused the issue.According to Kelvin Beaumont, a Cybersecurity expert who spoke to Daily Mail, he said,
This one looks like a pretty epic configuration error, Facebook basically doesn’t exist on the internet right now.
Facebook Communications executive on Twitter has however addressed the issue saying,
We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.
For now, social media users will have to wait a little longer for the tech giant to get things back to normal.
