The Energy Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced a reduction in fuel prices for Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene in its latest monthly review on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
In the announcement, EPRA revealed that the December prices for Super Petrol would drop by Ksh.4.37 per litre, while Diesel and Kerosene would each decrease by Ksh.3 per litre.
“For the review period, the maximum allowable pump prices for Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene have decreased by Ksh.4.37/litre, Ksh.3.0/litre, and Ksh.3.0/litre respectively,” the statement read.
These prices include the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) as outlined in the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020, and adjustments for inflation under Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.
With the revised rates, motorists in Nairobi will now pay Ksh.176.29 per litre for Super Petrol, Ksh.165.06 for Diesel, and Ksh.148.39 for Kerosene. Meanwhile, in Mombasa, the prices will be slightly lower at Ksh.173.05, Ksh.161.82, and Ksh.145.15 for Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene, respectively.
EPRA stated that the new pricing would take effect from midnight on December 15, 2024. The agency attributed the reduction to lower landed costs for petroleum products recorded in November.
