Citizen TV News Anchor Yvonne Okwara Reveals Why She Doesn’t Have Children Despite 10 Years in Marriage with Andrew Matole

Yvonne Okwara, the esteemed Kenyan news anchor, has openly discussed her decision not to have children despite being married to Andrew Matole for over a decade.

The couple tied the knot in December 2014, yet their journey together has been shadowed by speculation and curiosity surrounding their deliberate choice to remain child-free.

In a recent interview with Ghafla Kenya, Okwara tackled the subject directly, offering insights into her perspective and personal beliefs.

Addressing inquiries about their childless marriage, Okwara articulated a firm stance, asserting that she doesn’t feel compelled by societal norms to adhere to traditional expectations of parenthood.

“People talked. People had opinions. That’s par for the course when you’re in the public eye,” remarked Okwara.

She underscored that external judgments have never swayed her decisions, particularly on matters as deeply personal as this.

“Never. I’m inherently driven by my own values. If there’s any pressure, it’s self-imposed. Never from external forces,” she emphasized.

Despite the noticeable age gap between herself and Matole – he being 16 years her senior – Okwara reaffirmed that their marital bond remains robust.

“People talked. Opinions were shared. It’s part and parcel of being in the spotlight, but ultimately, only I live my life. My husband is my confidant, and our connection is unwavering despite any outside noise,” Okwara asserted.
