John Njoroge: Kikuyu businessman making ksh 30,000 a day working part-time selling ‘mutura’ in YUES.

Njoro, a Kikuyu businessman, has found a lucrative opportunity in selling Mutura in the United States, earning at least Ksh30,000 daily through the late hours. Originally from Kiambu, Kenya, Njoro won a green card lottery in 2020 and was hosted by a Facebook acquaintance in the US. Despite the initial culture shock of settling in a new country, Njoro saw an opportunity to continue his Mutura business abroad.

Njoro’s main clientele are party-goers in 24-hour clubs, where he sells a slice of Mutura for $5, equivalent to 500 Kenyan shillings. On good days, he can earn up to Ksh30,000 inclusive of tips, while bad days still guarantee him at least Ksh10,000 in sales. He opens his business in the evening and closes it in the late hours of the night.

Njoro plans to expand his business and open branches in different states, given the success he has experienced so far. The Mutura business in the US has proven to be very profitable for Njoro, and he hopes to continue to grow and succeed in his ventures.
