A tragic incident occurred involving a 43-year-old Catholic priest who was responsible for St. Peter’s Ruai. It has been reported that the priest, identified as Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, passed away while spending time with his partner at a hotel in Murang’a.
On the morning of Saturday, July 8, the priest’s partner and hotel staff took him to the hospital after he started feeling unwell. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The couple had checked into the Monalisa Hotel Delview in Gatanga the previous night, as stated in a police report.
The police report revealed that on Saturday morning at approximately 8:00 a.m., the priest’s girlfriend informed the hotel management that he was feeling dizzy and losing consciousness. They immediately decided to rush him to the hospital, leading to their arrival at Kenol hospital. Tragically, he was declared dead upon arrival.
The priest’s lifeless body was found in the back seat of his car, which had been used to transport him to the hospital. It was partially covered with a hotel bedsheet, and there were traces of white foam coming from his mouth and nose.
Following the incident, the police report stated that the body was transferred to Mater Hospital mortuary in Nairobi under police escort. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, and further police investigation will take place.
Additionally, it has been reported that the authorities have taken the food and drinks consumed by the couple during their evening together for further analysis.
