Former President Uhuru Kenyatta reportedly expressed frustration during the burial of the late businessman and politician Cyrus Jirongo, responding to critics who have repeatedly attacked him. Speaking to the media and attendees, Kenyatta emphasized that although he is retired from active politics, this does not mean he will remain silent in the face of persistent accusations.
According to witnesses, Uhuru cautioned those targeting him, asserting that retirement should not be seen as weakness or an opportunity to provoke him. He stressed the importance of respect, particularly during solemn occasions such as funerals, while signaling that he remains attentive to political developments and criticisms directed at him.
The former president’s remarks come amid a wave of political rhetoric following Jirongo’s death, highlighting tensions between retired leaders and active political figures. Analysts note that such responses underscore the sensitivity of public commentary during periods of national mourning and the continuing impact of political rivalries in Kenya.
