Joseph and his wife longed to have children, but their first four pregnancies ended in tragedy as the babies died before birth. After years of pain, the couple finally welcomed their first surviving child, a girl named Louise. She was born alive but with closed eye sockets, meaning she had no eyes. Despite the condition, the parents were grateful to finally have a child to raise.
Hoping for another miracle, the couple tried again and had a baby boy named Valence. Sadly, he too was born with closed eye sockets and faced additional disabilities, including difficulty walking, hearing, and speaking. This left the parents devastated, and due to financial struggles, they decided to stop trying for more children and focus on raising the two.
As the children grew, Louise was admitted to school, but learning without sight proved very difficult. Valence, on the other hand, was rejected by normal schools because of his multiple disabilities, and specialized schools were too expensive for his family to afford. This left him without access to education.
Despite these hardships, Joseph and his wife continue to care for their children with love and determination. Their story is one of resilience and sacrifice, highlighting the challenges families face when raising children with disabilities and the need for more support systems.
