A Kenyan university student from one of the country’s top institutions has sparked heated debate online after sharing a shocking account of how her lecturer exploited her desperation for academic success, leaving her infected with HIV.
The revelation, shared on Betty Wahome’s platform, began with the student admitting that her irregular class attendance had placed her at risk of failing. When her lecturer noticed her poor academic standing, instead of offering guidance, he saw an opportunity to take advantage of her vulnerability.
According to the student, the lecturer proposed an unethical deal—he would guarantee her a pass if she agreed to sleep with him. Feeling trapped by the fear of failing her course, the young woman accepted. True to his word, she not only passed but also emerged among the top students in the class. Shockingly, the lecturer went further and appointed her as the class representative, strengthening the illusion that her “sacrifice” had secured her success.
