Residents of Migori County are reeling in shock after a gruesome attack in which a man allegedly slaughtered members of his in-laws’ family before setting their house on fire.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred at midnight when the suspect, identified as the family’s son-in-law, stormed the homestead armed with a machete. He is said to have hacked several family members to death in a brutal bloodbath before dousing the house in petrol and torching it.
Neighbours who heard screams rushed to the scene but found the house engulfed in flames. Despite attempts to rescue those trapped inside, the inferno consumed the building, leaving behind a trail of death and destruction.
Police have since launched investigations into the motive of the attack, with early reports pointing to long-standing family disputes. The suspect fled the scene immediately after the killings, and security officers are currently pursuing him.
