2019 KCSE grade A Student digging Septics, Mjengo after Sponsor Abandoned him

Nehemiah Koech, a top performer in the 2019 KCSE exams with a grade A, has been forced to take on low-paying jobs to pay for his higher education. Despite his excellent exam results, the young man’s aspirations of becoming a Cardiologist were crushed after a scholarship program that funded his secondary education was suspended due to the pandemic.

Determined to pursue his dreams, Koech reached out to everyone he could think of, including the governor and educational institutions in Eldoret, but to no avail. After multiple failed attempts, he decided to look for a job to support his family and save for university fees.

His persistence paid off when a landlord offered him a job as a security guard, earning him 200 shillings a day. With the money, Koech was able to provide for his three younger sisters and keep his own dream alive.

Despite the difficulties he has faced, Koech remains hopeful for his future. “I am still working hard, hoping that my future will be different,” he says. “I am doing what I can to help my family.”
