A surprising incident unfolded at a local school in Bungoma on Tuesday evening when the institution’s 50-year-old headteacher, identified here as Mr. Mukheshi (not his real name), was found using the school library for inappropriate purposes.
The incident occurred when a parent visited the school to collect a copy of her daughter’s birth certificate, needed for the ongoing Class Eight registration. Accompanied by a friend, the parent arrived shortly after the lunch break and was directed by the deputy headteacher to meet with Mr. Mukheshi in the library. She left her friend waiting outside on a nearby bench.
After a prolonged wait, the friend, growing concerned, decided to check on her. To her shock, she found the headteacher and the parent in a compromising situation, with clothes strewn across the floor. Stunned by the discovery, she exclaimed in Swahili, “Hii ndio kitu mnafanya apa na mimi nakungoja nje?” (“So this is what you’re doing while I’m waiting outside?”)
Mary, the friend, immediately raised the alarm, drawing the attention of other teachers. Staff members rushed to the library and found the pair hastily trying to dress, with the woman attempting to conceal her identity.
Visibly upset, Mary remarked, “Huyu mama nampatia mtoto wake aibu gani hii?” (“What kind of embarrassment is this mother bringing upon her child?”)
Teachers quickly intervened, ushering pupils away from the scene and escorting both women to the school gate. The headteacher, meanwhile, fled the compound on his motorcycle.
Sources within the school hinted that this may not have been an isolated incident, claiming the headteacher had previously engaged in similar behavior. This time, however, he was caught in the act, facing the full consequences of his misconduct.
