Kisii Governor Simba Arati records statement at DCI, alleging plot by police to plant weapons at his Home

On Monday, April 15, Kisii Governor Simba Arati took decisive action by filing a complaint at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters. Accompanied by his legal team comprising Senior Counsels James Orengo and Otiende Amollo, Governor Arati expressed concerns regarding what he perceives as an unlawful scheme orchestrated by the CCIO Kisii to falsely implicate him.

Based on documents reviewed by TV47 Digital, Governor Arati alleges a sinister plan to plant weapons at his residence in Kisii and at the homes of his supporters. Orengo informed the press that they have presented an audio recording to the DCI headquarters, purportedly featuring the Kisii CCIO discussing strategies to procure weapons, secure search warrants, place the weapons at designated locations, and subsequently effect arrests, using the planted evidence to support legal charges.

“We have provided the authorities with evidence where a Kisii CCIO is heard orchestrating the planting of incriminating items on Governor Arati,” Orengo disclosed. In his formal complaint, Governor Arati asserts that this conspiracy involved the deliberate withdrawal of his security detail by the police.

“This is an unprecedented situation. Governor Arati has lodged a complaint against the DCI with the DCI itself. We have been assured of prompt action, and we anticipate a resolution, as failure to do so may lead us to explore alternative measures,” remarked Amollo.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has voiced dismay over what they perceive as the persistent mistreatment and harassment of Governor Arati by both the National Government and law enforcement agencies. “The government’s silence on this matter is concerning. We take note of recent revelations regarding a senior police officer’s recorded conversation within the DCI, circulating in the media. We demand that Governor Arati be provided with the requisite security mandated by law and that appropriate measures be taken against those responsible for the unlawful schemes and threats against his life,” stated the party in a released statement.
