Lang’ata aspirant Felix Odiwuor moniker Jalang’o has revealed plans to spend over Ksh40m for his campaigns.
Addressing Citizen TV today, Jalas as known by many said Kenyans need somebody who will help them immediately.
He said that the money will go towards his campaign plans and coordinated operations.
Jalang’o got the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket to vie for the MP seat seven days ago after nominations.
“It is not about handouts or anything like that, but for a well-oiled campaign, it would easily cost about Ksh30 million to Ksh 40 million. With this, you will be able to move into every single place and articulate your issues.”
Jalang’o said the 2022 elections will be a bit costly and will expect politicians to dig further into their pockets since they come when the nation is coming from a Covid-19 pandemic.
He said while most politicians want to go to the ground and give their manifestos and promises to the people, the situation forces you to go beyond that and instead end up giving food and help to people.
Asked how he will figure out how to get funds for his campaigns, Jalang’o said his friends contributed a lot of cash during a fundriser he did an year ago.
“I had my fundraiser in December 2021 in which a few friends put in a good amount of money for me to start my campaigns; and from time to time I have also had support from my constituency in Langa’ta.”
