Winnie Odinga, daughter of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has clarified recent speculation regarding her father’s stance on the 2027 general elections and potential support for President William Ruto.
Speaking publicly, Winnie Odinga emphasized that Raila Odinga has never indicated leaving ODM for government positions. She noted that during the last ODM Party General Meeting (PGM), Raila posed a rhetorical question: “Who told you ODM will not field a candidate in 2027?”
Winnie questioned the sources of claims suggesting that Raila secretly expressed intentions contrary to the party line. She insisted that her father has always communicated openly and transparently, stating that “everything he said, he used to say in front of all of us.”
Her remarks aim to dispel rumours circulating online about a possible alliance with President Ruto in the next elections. Winnie reiterated that ODM remains committed to charting its own course as it prepares for the 2027 race.
The clarification comes amid rising speculation about political realignments in Kenya’s lead-up to the next general elections, with party leaders keen to assert their positions and preserve internal cohesion.
