Vickers Queens and Kakamega Starlets to set up Women’s Division One Playoff showdown

Vickers Queens and Kakamega Starlets are set to clash in the pinnacle showdown of the Women’s Division One playoffs, following their triumphant victories over Fortune Ladies and Makolanders FC, respectively.

Commencing today, June 7, 2024, at the illustrious Dandora Stadium, these playoffs mark a crucial phase in determining the ultimate champion of the Women’s Division One League, encompassing participants from all zones, A to D.

In the inaugural encounter, Vickers Queens exhibited dominance, overpowering Fortune Ladies with a commanding display. Luyali Josephine showcased her prowess by netting twice, the initial strike arriving in the 16th minute, propelling Vickers into the lead. Lavender Odhiambo further solidified their advantage in the 51st minute, paving the way for Josephine to seal the victory with another goal in the 80th minute.

The subsequent clash between Kakamega Starlets and Makolanders FC unfolded as a riveting spectacle, characterized by relentless back-and-forth action. Despite a flurry of saves from Makolanders’ custodian, Owendi Edah, Malina Gladwell broke the deadlock in the 84th minute, securing a hard-fought win for Kakamega Starlets.

The grand finale of the Division One playoffs is slated for tomorrow, June 8, 2024, coinciding with the FKF Women’s National Super League (WNSL) playoffs.

The WNSL showdown will feature two pivotal encounters. The initial kickoff at noon will determine the contender vying for the last coveted spot in the FKF Women Premier League, featuring Kayole Starlet (runner-up in Zone A) against KISPED Queens (runner-up in Zone B).

Subsequently, the climactic clash, scheduled for 3:00 PM, will ascertain the crowning of the ultimate champions of the 2023/24 FKF Women National Super League, pitting Mombasa Olympic (Zone A champions) against Kisumu Allstarlets (Zone B champions).

Both Mombasa Olympic and Kisumu Allstarlets will ascend to the 2024/25 FKF Women Premier League season, having emerged triumphant in their respective zones with 38 and 31 points.
