Tairus Maina Gikonyo, 43, was identified as the male passenger in a vehicle that was involved in a fatal accident on Tuesday, January 17. According to a report from a friend, identified as Mwangi, Gikonyo had two marriages, one in Kahawa West and the other in Makongeni, Thika. Mwangi stated that Gikonyo had told him he was going to meet his lover on the day of the accident.
Two women have come forward claiming to be Gikonyo’s wives, with one of them, Sarah Kiiru, speaking to the media. Sarah confirmed that Gikonyo was a businessman who dealt in various engineering machinery. She stated that he left for work on Monday morning and informed her he would be late due to a business engagement. Sarah said the last thing she asked him was what he would like for dinner, but he did not reply.
It is unclear at this time how Gikonyo’s multiple marriages will impact the investigation into the accident.
