‘Suluhu speaks after being declared winner-Naomba niwashukuru Watanzania wazalendo kwa kuniamini na kunipigia kura tena kuwa kiongozi wao. Uchaguzi ulikuwa wa haki na Uhuru ‘

Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan has broken her silence after being officially declared the winner of the just-concluded general election. In her victory speech, delivered shortly after the announcement by the national electoral commission, Suluhu expressed deep gratitude to Tanzanians for renewing their trust in her leadership.

“Naomba niwashukuru Watanzania wazalendo kwa kuniamini na kunipigia kura tena kuwa kiongozi wao,” she said with a warm smile, addressing thousands of jubilant supporters. “Uchaguzi ulikuwa wa haki na uhuru, na kila mtu alipata nafasi ya kutimiza haki yao ya kikatiba. Sasa naomba tuungane sote pamoja ili kukuza nchi yetu.”

Her message emphasized unity, peace, and collective effort toward national development. Suluhu, who made history as Tanzania’s first female president, promised to focus her new term on strengthening the economy, creating jobs for the youth, and promoting gender equality.

Observers have described her speech as calm, inclusive, and forward-looking — a tone that reflects her leadership style since taking over office. Meanwhile, international observers praised the election process, noting significant improvements in transparency and voter participation compared to previous polls.

As celebrations continue in major cities like Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, and Arusha, Suluhu’s victory is seen as both a personal triumph and a milestone for women in African leadership. She called on all political rivals and citizens to put aside differences and focus on building a stronger, united Tanzania.

“Sasa siyo wakati wa kugawanyika,” she concluded. “Ni wakati wa kushirikiana, kufanya kazi, na kupeleka Tanzania mbele.”
