Outspoken lawyer Ndegwa Njiru has launched a fiery attack on President William Ruto — whom he mockingly referred to as “Kasongo” — warning that the 2027 elections will not be a contest between him and the United Opposition, but between him and an angry nation.
In his passionate statement, Njiru said:
“Hii kiburi ya Kasongo tutaimaliza. Someone tell the proud and sharp parroting Kasongo that in 2027 he will not be facing the United Opposition; he will be facing a nation that is disgruntled, frustrated, desperate, a nation that is still mourning the killing of our Gen-Z, a hungry and angry nation, an overtaxed nation, a sick nation, a nation that is determined to free itself from the dictator that you, Kasongo, have become. The United Opposition is just part of that nation.”
Njiru’s statement has stirred heated political discussions, with many interpreting his remarks as a bold declaration of growing public dissatisfaction with the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Political observers note that his message reflects the mood among sections of the opposition, which has accused the government of overtaxation, suppression of dissent, and economic mismanagement. Others, however, have criticized his tone, warning that such language could deepen divisions in an already polarized political environment.
As the country edges closer to the 2027 general election, Njiru’s statement adds to a chorus of voices calling for leadership accountability and political change. Whether his remarks will trigger a stronger opposition movement or remain part of online political rhetoric remains to be seen.
