Law enforcement agencies in the Bombo and Luweero districts of Uganda are actively pursuing a suspect in connection with a tragic incident that resulted in the fatal stabbing of his former partner.
The motive behind this heart-wrenching incident is believed to revolve around allegations that the suspect stole the victim’s underwear following the termination of their romantic relationship.
The incident unfolded last Friday in Kasala village, located within Kasala Parish, Makulubita sub-county, Luwero district. The victim has been identified by the authorities as 26-year-old Jane Kyoshabire.
According to information obtained from the local police, the unidentified man and the victim were previously in a romantic relationship, and they used to reside in Bukekele village. However, they later parted ways.
“They were once deeply in love, but on October 8, the victim secured a job as a housemaid in a wealthy individual’s residence. The suspect persisted in pursuing her, alleging that she had taken his underwear,” stated the police in an official release.
Reportedly, the dispute between the two was resolved amicably on October 12, in the presence of the village LC 1 chairman, with the suspect vowing not to approach the victim again.
Nevertheless, on the fateful Friday at around 10 p.m., the suspect was reported to have visited the victim’s workplace, claiming he had not slept and desperately wanted her back. A confrontation ensued between the former couple, during which the suspect allegedly stabbed the woman twice in the abdomen with a knife before fleeing to an undisclosed location.
The local authorities were promptly alerted, and a case of murder by stabbing was officially registered in Luwero. Eyewitnesses were interviewed at the scene, and the victim’s body was transported to the Mulago mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
While maintaining security at the crime scene, the police urged the community not to take matters into their own hands but instead to report any pertinent information to the appropriate government agencies.
This shocking incident has left the communities in Bombo and Luweero districts in shock, and the authorities are committed to bringing the suspect to justice as the manhunt intensifies. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Jane Kyoshabire during this difficult time.
