During a friendly match between Manyansi FC and Gianchore FC in the Manyansi area of Kitutu Chache North Constituency, Kisii County, tragedy struck when two football players were killed by lightning. The incident occurred on Saturday at approximately 4:30 pm, with each team losing one player.
The police in the area have not been briefed on the matter, according to their statement. However, Evans Akanga, the Kitutu Chache North Football Kenya Federation chair, confirmed to Citizen Digital via phone that the players were killed during the friendly tournament.
In addition, two other players were injured during the incident and were promptly taken to the Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital for emergency treatment.
