Anticipation is building among Kenyans for the upcoming crossover concert, where Christina Shusho is set to take center stage as the main artist.
Size 8, a renowned gospel singer and preacher, has shared her perspective on Kenyans opting for foreign artists rather than supporting their own. Expressing her views, she emphasized the importance of local artists reflecting on why someone from Tanzania is chosen for the main act. Size 8 views this as a constructive challenge, urging fellow artists to introspect and evaluate their approach to their craft.
Addressing claims that Kenyan artists chase after clout, Size 8 refuted such assertions, stating that Kenyans appreciate their homegrown gospel musicians such as Karura Voices, Edith Wairimo, Evelyne Wanjiru, Mash Mwana, and Benachi. According to her, these artists are doing exceptional work.
Size 8 also commented on Christina Shusho’s practice of incorporating direct quotes from Bible verses into the majority of her songs. She commended this approach, stating that singing the word of God is a positive trend, citing the Book of Psalms as an example.
Regarding Shusho’s upcoming event on December 31, Size 8 expressed her willingness to attend if her schedule allows. However, she mentioned that her attendance would depend on her availability in Nairobi and the absence of prior preaching engagements.
Reflecting on her own journey, Size 8 discussed her salvation and transition from a secular past. She emphasized that she doesn’t miss anything from her secular days and recalled an instance where she performed in a club in Zimmerman after embracing gospel music. Despite the unconventional setting, she made it clear that she only sang gospel songs, highlighting the challenges she faced in convincing people of her transformation. Size 8 concluded by noting that while abandoning her previous lifestyle was relatively easy, convincing others of her newfound faith posed a greater challenge.
