Simba Arati tells Ruto in Kisii-Kisii yote ni watu wa Tutam! Hawa wengine hawa agenda! Sisi tumeaihidi kutembea na William Ruto, ile upande ya mkabila Gachagua hatuwezi enda!

Kisii Governor Simba Arati has ignited fresh political debate after making strong remarks in support of President William Ruto during a public event in Kisii. Speaking in a mix of Kiswahili and Sheng, Arati declared that Kisii residents are firmly behind the “Tutam” agenda, dismissing rival political camps as lacking a clear direction.

Arati openly stated that the Kisii community had made a commitment to walk with President Ruto and would not associate with what he termed as tribal-driven politics linked to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. His remarks appeared to draw a sharp line between political loyalty based on development agendas and politics shaped by ethnic considerations.

The governor’s statement comes at a time when Kenya’s political landscape remains highly polarized, with leaders increasingly mobilizing support by appealing to regional and community interests. By aligning Kisii squarely with Ruto’s camp, Arati positioned himself as a key defender of the President’s agenda in the region, reinforcing his own political standing.

Supporters at the rally welcomed the remarks with cheers, interpreting them as a declaration that Kisii is focused on development rather than ethnic alliances. To them, Arati’s words signaled a desire to be part of the national government’s plans and to benefit from state-led projects.

Critics, however, argue that such statements risk deepening political divisions and oversimplifying complex national issues. They warn that framing political choices as strictly “agenda versus tribe” could inflame tensions instead of fostering unity.

Nonetheless, Simba Arati’s comments have once again thrust Kisii County into the national political conversation, highlighting how regional leaders continue to play a crucial role in shaping narratives around power, loyalty, and governance in Kenya.
