Content creator 2Mbili has shed light on the reasons behind the financial struggles of Ngesh Wa Vasha, the renowned artist behind the hit song “Kaveve Kazoze,” despite its millions of views on YouTube.
During an exclusive interview with Oga Obinna, 2Mbili revealed that Ngesh Wa Vasha, after the song gained immense popularity, succumbed to the pitfalls of fame and neglected the nurturing of her music career. According to 2Mbili, the newfound social media fame inflated the hitmaker’s ego, leading to pride taking control. He explained that Ngesh, enamored by her sudden success, turned a deaf ear to professional advice and insisted on managing things her way.
“Ngesh alijiona amefika hataki kuskia advice yangu. Kaveve Kazoze amevuma week moja alafu anataka gigs daily. She made his family members his managers. You can’t do business with your family. She was very impatient,” he conveyed to Obinna.
Ngesh Wa Vasha, a member of the Young Gengetone Group Spider Clan, gained prominence through their song “Rieng Genje,” known for phrases like ‘Cashcrop za Nyandarua ni Mawaru,’ ‘unibebe hata mbele ya kirindi,’ and ‘Kaveve Kazoze,’ which went viral. Despite amassing over 4 million YouTube views in just six months, financial prosperity eluded them.
The group recently shared that they realized the potential for monetizing the song after reaching 4 million views on YouTube. However, they lamented that only the producer benefited financially, creating challenges in convincing people that they are not as well-off as perceived online.
“So wenye wanasema ati tuko na doo juu ya hio ngoma, hio ngoma ilitupea fame, jina ni kubwa lakini doo hakuna.”
In an interview with Jalang’o TV, Spider Clan Group members disclosed that despite Mike Sonko facilitating their travel and accommodation for a performance in Mombasa, he did not fulfill the promises of further assistance. Ngesh expressed disappointment with Sonko for cutting communication and not honoring commitments.
“Alitupeleka show Mombasa, akatulipia flight na hatukuwai enda na flight hata kama ni mbali hivyo, akatupiga luku na accommodation na kurudi sasa fare. Sasa since hapo zile promises alikuwa ametupromise ziliishia tu hapo hivyo,” the musicians explained.
Regarding the fallout with comedian 2Mbili, Ngesh disclosed that she declined his help as he wanted to support her individually, potentially separating her from the group. She stated, “Ni kama alikuwa anataka kunipush nikiwa solo na mimi siezi acha crew si unaona,” elucidating the strained relationship between them.
