Shock as Woman Arrested After Stabbing 15-Year-Old Househelp Over Husband

Residents of Calabar South, Cross River State, are still reeling in shock following a disturbing domestic incident in which a woman allegedly stabbed her 15-year-old househelp after catching her in what she described as a compromising situation with her husband.

According to reports, the woman arrived home unexpectedly and found the teenage girl sitting on her husband’s lap as they watched TikTok videos together. The sight reportedly sent her into a rage, leading her to grab a kitchen knife and attack the young girl in a fit of uncontrolled anger.

The horrifying incident occurred along Mbukpa Street, Calabar South, and was first made public by Andrea Ekeng Inyang, the Special Assistant to the Governor of Cross River State on Security Matters. In a statement shared on social media, Inyang confirmed that the suspect had been apprehended shortly after the attack.

“The news this evening, somewhere in Mbukpa Street, Calabar South — a woman walked in on her 15-year-old house girl sitting on her husband’s lap watching TikTok videos. She got furious and stabbed the girl. As I type this, she is behind the counter,” Inyang reported.

Police sources have since confirmed that the suspect is now in custody and is expected to face attempted murder charges once investigations are completed.

The teenage victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment and is reportedly in stable condition. Medical personnel have assured the public that she is responding well to treatment and will soon be discharged.

The Cross River State Police Command has also issued a statement urging the public to remain calm, assuring that justice will be served once the full investigation is concluded.

The incident has triggered widespread outrage on social media, with many Nigerians condemning the attack and demanding tougher penalties for domestic violence and child abuse. Human rights advocates have also called for stricter regulations to protect minors and domestic workers from exploitation and assault.

Others, however, have urged restraint, advising that the matter be left to the authorities to handle professionally to ensure a fair and lawful outcome.

As investigations continue, this shocking case has once again brought to light the growing cases of violence within households — a disturbing trend that calls for stronger awareness, emotional control, and respect for human life in domestic spaces.
