“Sijui Mahali Alipo” Man Appeals for Help to Find his Brother Who Went Missing after Leaving Home at Night:

A family living in distress after the unexplained disappearance of a young man who left home one night and never returned.

Uswege Alois Bokela is calling on the public to assist in the search for his brother, Gwakisa Alois Abokela, who has been missing for over two months. Gwakisa was last seen on the night of Saturday, January 25, when he left their home for what he said would be a short walk.

According to Uswege, it was unusual for his brother to leave the house at night. “He told me he was going for a walk. It was already past 9pm. I was concerned but didn’t stop him since he is a grown man, 27 years old,” he explained.

Gwakisa was dressed in a hat, a t-shirt, a pair of jeans, and a Maasai leso. He also carried his phone but left behind his bag, diary, and other personal belongings, which led the family to believe he would return shortly.

Unfortunately, that was the last time he was seen. “We’ve tried calling his phone without success. The police are still investigating, but we haven’t received any leads or concrete updates,” said Uswege.

The family has searched extensively—visiting police stations, hospitals, morgues, and prisons—all to no avail.

The disappearance has taken a toll on the family, especially their mother, who remains hopeful but deeply worried. “We are doing our best to encourage her and stay hopeful,” Uswege said.

Public Reaction

Many netizens shared their sympathy and support for the family. Some commented on the importance of informing loved ones before leaving the house, especially at night, while others called for a louder public outcry to highlight such cases.

A few comments included:

  • “Tupaze sana sauti, vinginevyo kila familia itapoteza mtu.”
  • “Mungu amrudishe tu jamani na wasiwasi tu muondoe.”
  • “Nendeni mochwari na hospitali zaidi, huenda alikuwa hajajulikana.”
