In a tragic turn of events that transpired in Kajiado County, a 23-year-old woman finds herself in police custody following the death of her 59-year-old partner, Joseph Stephen Muirui, in circumstances shrouded in uncertainty. This incident unfolded within the confines of the woman’s rented residence, situated along Balozi Road in Kitengela.
Per the official report lodged at Kitengela Police Station, the individual in question, identified as Beth Wanjiku, narrated that Muirui had paid her a visit on Wednesday, October 18. She recounted that they shared a meal together, after which they retired to the bedroom to share moments of intimacy. Tragically, during their intimate encounter, Muirui abruptly lost consciousness.
“She had prepared a meal consisting of meat stew and ugali, which they consumed for lunch. Following their meal, he expressed a desire to retire to the bedroom. At approximately 4:00 PM, while they were engaged in an intimate moment, he suddenly became unconscious,” detailed the police report.
Upon realizing Muirui’s unconscious state, Wanjiku positioned him beside her and urgently reached out to one of his acquaintances, John Kinywa, for assistance. They made concerted efforts to swiftly transport Muirui to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, their endeavors were in vain, as Muirui was pronounced dead upon arrival at Pona Hospital, where they had sought medical attention.
Promptly responding to the incident were law enforcement officers, including personnel from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stationed in Kitengela. However, no substantial evidence was discovered at the scene. Wanjiku was subsequently taken into custody for further questioning as part of the ongoing investigative process.
The lifeless body of the deceased has been entrusted to the care of Kitengela Sub County Hospital Mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination to elucidate the precise cause of death.
