Former nominated senator Gloria Orwoba, who was recently expelled from the UDA party, has dismissed claims that President William Ruto’s party won the Malava and Mbeere North parliamentary seats genuinely.
In a video circulating online, Orwoba alleged that the by-elections were part of what she described as a well-coordinated vote manipulation scheme. She insisted that the government “planned and executed” the process to its advantage.
According to her, even with the alleged interference, the margins between UDA candidates and the opposition were extremely close, something she believes should worry the ruling party heading into the 2027 General Elections.
Orwoba argued that the opposition did not fail, saying they remained highly competitive despite what she claimed was a government machinery that spent “millions on bribery” and allegedly influenced systems to tilt the vote.
She maintained that the 2027 elections will be very different, insisting that Kenyans will be more alert and ready to protect their votes, making it harder for any side to “take advantage of the process.”
Her remarks have ignited debate online as Kenyans continue to analyze the outcome of the two hotly contested by-elections.
