Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has intervened to address internal leadership disputes within his newly established political party, the Democracy for Citizenship Party (DCP). The party has been experiencing tensions as various politicians vie for leadership positions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
On Saturday, September 6, Gachagua convened a consultative meeting at his Wamunyoro residence, bringing together over 200 party aspirants seeking DCP tickets for the upcoming elections. During the meeting, he commended the aspirants for their unwavering support during the party’s membership drive and for embodying its core values with dedication and integrity.
To alleviate concerns regarding favoritism, Gachagua emphasized that the DCP remains a democratic and transparent party with no preference for any candidate. He assured the aspirants that each individual would be given an equal opportunity based on merit, commitment, and the will of the people.
The former Deputy President reiterated the party’s commitment to fostering a fair and inclusive nomination process that upholds its values and ensures the selection of the best leadership for the future.
This move aims to strengthen the party’s foundation and maintain unity as it prepares for the forthcoming elections.
