President William Ruto has made it clear that he is not involved in the recent public criticisms directed at former President Uhuru Kenyatta by some Kenya Kwanza leaders.
Speaking during a public event, the Head of State emphasized that those who have been making statements against Uhuru are doing so in their personal capacity and not on behalf of the government or the ruling coalition.
“These are grown-ups expressing their personal opinions. I cannot be responsible for what every individual says,” President Ruto stated, seemingly distancing himself from the escalating political exchanges.
The remarks come amid claims of a deepening rift between Ruto and his predecessor, with some observers pointing to increased tension among their respective allies. However, the president did not confirm any fallout, instead focusing on the need for unity and progress.
Political analysts have noted that while disagreements within political camps are not new in Kenya’s landscape, leaders have a responsibility to promote dialogue and cohesion.
President Ruto’s comments appear to be a call for maturity and restraint in public discourse, especially among those serving in leadership positions.
