Fresh details have emerged in the probe into the killing of prominent lawyer Kyalo Mbobu after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) obtained CCTV footage showing a man believed to have trailed him before his death.
Investigators revealed that the deceased was closely followed by a suspect moments after leaving his office in Nairobi.
The footage, aired by KTN News, showed Mbobu arriving at his office building, collecting a newspaper at the reception, and proceeding to the eighth floor.
Later, at 10:10 a.m., he briefly stepped out before returning to his office.
At 5:14 p.m., Mbobu officially left work. CCTV cameras captured an unidentified man dressed in a black jacket and carrying a bag while making phone calls near the same building at the time Mbobu walked out.
Detectives suspect the individual was in contact with the gunmen who later executed the attack.
Shortly after leaving the office, Mbobu was ambushed along Magadi Road by an armed assailant who escaped on a waiting motorcycle.
The lawyer was shot several times inside his vehicle and died at the scene.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen said several suspects linked to the murder had been arrested and were already being interrogated.
He urged the public to volunteer any useful information to help unmask the killers.
Government Chief Pathologist Johansen Oduor confirmed after a postmortem that Mbobu was shot eight times, with two bullets recovered from his body.
He said the injuries were concentrated on the neck and spine, causing severe bleeding that left no chance of survival.
The murder has shocked the legal community, with investigators racing to identify and bring all those behind the crime to justice.
