Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah has made explosive claims linking Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to the 2023 raid on former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Northlands farm.
Speaking during a political event, Ichung’wah alleged that Gachagua was responsible for the theft of goats during the chaotic invasion of the Kenyatta family property. He further claimed that he once discussed the matter directly with Uhuru, who allegedly confirmed knowing those behind the incident.
“Mwizi wa mbuzi za Uhuru pale Northlands tunajua ni Gachagua. Hata niliuliza Uhuru tukiwa pale Nyayo Stadium, akaniambia anamjua,” Ichung’wah said, drawing mixed reactions from the crowd.
The statement has reignited debate over the Northlands raid, which saw goons storm the Kenyatta family land, steal livestock, and destroy property. The attack, which occurred during heightened political tensions, was widely condemned by leaders across the political divide.
Ichung’wah’s fresh allegations are likely to escalate the ongoing war of words between allies of President William Ruto and Deputy President Gachagua. Neither Gachagua nor his team has responded to the claims, but the remarks have already sparked heated discussions online.
Political observers say the renewed accusations could further expose the growing rift within the Kenya Kwanza coalition, especially as Mt. Kenya leaders continue trading barbs over the region’s political direction ahead of 2027.
