Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has stirred debate after making bold remarks while hosting President William Ruto in Uganda.
Speaking during the event, Museveni referenced comments by industrialist Narendra Raval, who recently suggested that Ruto deserves to lead Kenya for 20 years.
Museveni noted that although Kenya’s Constitution limits presidential terms, nothing is impossible if citizens decide otherwise.
“My friend Narendra Raval has said Ruto deserves to rule Kenya for 20 years, but the Kenyan Constitution doesn’t allow it. Personally, I don’t see anything stopping him if Kenyans feel the same. It’s only a mountain that cannot be moved,” Museveni said.
He jokingly added that Ruto and his delegation should remain in Uganda a little longer so he could “give them tips” on how to stay in power for an extended period—just as he has.
