Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has called on Kenyans to refrain from circulating recent viral videos of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during his official trip to the United States.
Speaking during a public address, Murkomen argued that while many Kenyans believe the videos are meant to embarrass the DP, they are in fact making him more popular — at the expense of President William Ruto’s public image.
“When you keep sharing those clips, you think you are mocking the Deputy President, but in reality, you’re giving him more attention and fame. Unfortunately, it’s the President who ends up looking bad internationally,” Murkomen stated.
The CS urged social media users to focus on sharing positive developments from the government instead of content that could deepen political divisions or damage Kenya’s image abroad.
His remarks come amid heated online debates, with some Kenyans defending their right to share and comment on political leaders’ actions, while others agree that such content can be politically damaging.
