Michelle Morgan: Former Citizen TV anchor who owns popular The Alchemist Bar

Michelle Morgan is the Chief Executive Officer of BM Security, a leading private security firm in Kenya, following her appointment in September 2024.

Before taking the helm at BM Security, Michelle had an accomplished career as a broadcast journalist, working with prominent media houses including Citizen TV, Ebru TV, and K24.

Her media journey began in 2012 when she joined Royal Media Services’ Citizen TV as a prime-time news anchor. She was the lead anchor for the 1 PM business news segment.

Michelle worked at Citizen TV for two years before moving to Ebru TV in 2015, citing a lack of passion for business news. Her time at Ebru was brief, as she later joined K24 and eventually became the host of Xtreme Outdoors Africa (XOA), a program focused on extreme sports.

“I resigned as a news anchor at K24 on a very positive note. It was an amicable separation,” she shared on XOA’s YouTube channel. “During my time as a news anchor, I developed a deep passion for outdoor activities. I love adrenaline, I love extreme sports — this is the next chapter for me.”

In September 2017, Michelle returned to K24 as a weekend news anchor. However, in 2018, her career took a different direction when she joined BM Security — a company founded in 1984 by her late father, Bob Morgan.

Initially appointed as Executive Director, she was responsible for overseeing BM Systems, the company’s technology division. Her leadership was crucial in driving the firm’s digital transformation, positioning BM Security at the forefront of tech innovation in the security industry.

With over seven years of experience in the security sector, Michelle steadily rose through the ranks to become CEO, succeeding Neil Morgan, who transitioned to the role of Chairperson.

Beyond her professional achievements, Michelle is an avid polo player and is actively involved in various equestrian events in Kenya. She is also a successful entrepreneur, having co-founded the popular Alchemist Bar and Restaurant in Westlands with her husband, Peng Chen.
