South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro has once again stirred political drama with a sharp-tongued remark targeting former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i. Known for his fiery speeches and humorous jabs, Osoro took aim at Matiang’i’s political ambitions in a statement that has quickly gone viral.
“Matiang’i kiti anaeza simama ni stool akichange bulb!” Osoro quipped, implying that the former CS has no meaningful seat or political position he can successfully contest.
The comment, laced with sarcasm, reflects the growing tension and rivalry in Gusii politics as leaders realign ahead of the next election cycle. Osoro has been positioning himself as one of the dominant voices in the region under the Kenya Kwanza umbrella, often clashing with leaders associated with the opposition.
Matiang’i, once one of the most powerful figures in government, has maintained a relatively low political profile since leaving office. His supporters, however, believe he still commands respect and influence in the Kisii community. Osoro’s remarks are therefore seen by many as an attempt to undermine that influence and assert his own dominance.
Political analysts argue that such statements, though humorous, reflect deeper battles for control over Gusii voters. As 2027 approaches, leaders are sharpening their rhetoric to solidify their support bases and discredit potential rivals.
While Osoro’s joke has entertained some Kenyans, others see it as unnecessary belittling, calling for leaders to focus on development and unity rather than personal attacks.
Regardless of the divided opinions, one thing is clear: the political showdown in Gusii is gaining momentum, and Osoro’s latest jab has added fresh fuel to the fire.
