Man in Embu Attacked His Wife With a Hot Panga for Allegedly Wearing His Trousers

Faith (not her real name) was attacked by her husband because he accused her of taking and wearing his pants. He returned home late, around 2 a.m., asking for his trousers. While she was still sleeping, he assaulted her with a hot panga, causing burns on both her thighs and her private area, including her vulva.

In an attempt to escape, she ran to the shamba, but he chased after her and struck her head with a hammer. Her sister-in-law heard Faith’s screams and rushed outside, which made her husband flee. Faith’s in-laws expressed concern that their son’s violent behavior had put her safety at risk. He had threatened to kill her if he didn’t find those jeans.

The incident was reported under OB 03/25/01/2026; however, her in-laws feared that their son might return to harm Faith again. She required daily dressings and care for her injuries. A neighbor helped them by bringing Faith to the Usikimye office, where she was taken to the hospital for treatment and received psychosocial support.
