Lady Who Tattooed Mike Sonko’s Face on Her Thigh Speaks

A woman from Murang’a who decided to permanently ink the likeness of former Nairobi Governor, Mike Mbuvi Sonko, onto her thigh has recently shared her perspective.

During an interview with Nicholas Kioko, Maryanne Njoki, the lady behind the tattoo, expressed that her motivation for getting the tattoo was rooted in genuine admiration and gratitude towards the former governor.

Maryanne articulated her fondness for Sonko, attributing it to his philanthropic efforts and his consistent support for the marginalized within society. She believed that showcasing her appreciation for his commendable endeavors was important.

A mother of two, Maryanne revealed that she already had tattoos depicting her children, and for the Sonko tattoo, she compensated the tattoo artist with Ksh 5,000.

Unlike some instances where individuals pursue tattoos for attention or fame, Maryanne clarified that her intention was not to seek public recognition. In fact, she refrained from sharing the tattoo on social media until the artist suggested otherwise.

Maryanne’s aspiration is to meet Mike Sonko face-to-face and possibly convey her appreciation through a hug, underscoring her respect for his altruistic contributions. She acknowledged, however, that the tattoo had garnered significant attention, leading some to misinterpret her intentions.

As of now, Mike Sonko has yet to acknowledge the existence of the tattoo.

In recent times, ardent enthusiasts have resorted to unconventional measures to demonstrate their profound admiration and affection for their beloved icons.

Among the Kenyan celebrities whose fans have immortalized their faces or names on their skin are Otile Brown, Diana Marua, Oga Obinna, Willy Paul, Mungai Eve, and Keranta.
