Kenyan Man Stuns Doctors After ‘Resurrecting’ in Mortuary

Shock and disbelief gripped Kericho County after a 32-year-old man, Peter Kiplangat Kigen, who had been declared dead, suddenly woke up inside the mortuary just as attendants were preparing to embalm his body.

Kigen had collapsed at his home and was rushed to hospital, where medical staff pronounced him dead and transferred his body to the morgue.

But during the embalming process, as a mortuary worker made an incision on his leg to inject formalin, Kigen let out a chilling scream—sending attendants fleeing in shock.

He was immediately rushed back to the hospital, where doctors tried to stabilize him. For a brief moment, hope returned to his devastated family.

Tragically, while being transferred to Kericho County Referral Hospital for further treatment, Kigen died once again inside the ambulance.

The bizarre incident has left his family and the community heartbroken.

“It’s hard to believe what happened. We lost him, then we were told he was alive, only to lose him again. It’s devastating,” a family member said.

The case has sparked outrage, with many Kenyans questioning how medical staff could wrongly declare someone dead. Calls are growing for stricter medical protocols to prevent such traumatic mistakes in the future.

For Kigen’s family, what should have been a moment of mourning turned into a whirlwind of shock, hope, and unbearable grief—all in a single day.
