On Saturday, a horrific accident occurred in Migori County when a lorry lost control and plowed into a boda boda parking area, resulting in the deaths of at least 20 people. According to reports, the driver was unable to control the lorry’s speed outside the central business district, and it ultimately crashed near Migori Primary School.
Witnesses claimed that the lorry was speeding and careened through the town, colliding with passers-by, motorists, and boda boda riders as it traveled downhill. The lorry then crashed into another lorry transporting sand, causing it to come to a halt.
Eyewitnesses speculate that if the second lorry hadn’t been present in that location, the first lorry, which was carrying rice and had lost control, could have caused even more fatalities.
