June Jerop’s Suspected Boyfriend Says She Owed Him Ksh 1 Million

Jesse Wafula Walukha, the boyfriend of June Jerop, a KU master’s student and NITA employee who was found dead last month, has filed documents at the High Court in Nairobi claiming that the deceased owed him Ksh 1 million. Mr Walukha also revealed that June Jerop was his business partner, and she was avoiding queries from her colleagues at work regarding her lifestyle and ownership of a motor vehicle.

According to Mr Walukha, he had sold a salvaged car to June Jerop’s friend, Sharon Kangogo, and at the time of her death, June Jerop owed him Ksh 1 million, which she was still paying. He added that June Jerop had asked him to have the lease put in his name to avoid scrutiny from the audit team at her workplace.

Mr Walukha further claimed that he and Sharon Kangogo were in business, and she would use his company to apply for tenders in the organisation where she worked. He denied any involvement in the murder and wants to be released from police custody, stating that there is no tangible evidence linking him to the crime.

June Jerop went missing on March 19, 2023, and her body was found two days later dumped near Jamhuri Primary School in Nairobi County. Mr Walukha, who is also an ICT expert, denied allegations that he had met June Jerop for a coffee date. He stated that he is married and has one child.
