Media personality Joyce Gituro, renowned for her captivating on-screen presence, has recently opened up about a profoundly personal aspect of her life – her marriage.
In a candid discussion with Jeff Kuria, Joyce bravely delved into the difficulties she encountered, shedding light on the intricate dynamics of her relationship.
“Prior to my tenure at KBC, I was already in a committed relationship, albeit not cohabiting,” Joyce revealed. However, upon securing her position, they opted to live together. Despite recognizing warning signs, she chose to overlook them. “I observed numerous red flags, particularly concerning insecurity, and our lack of camaraderie. Before him, I had a daughter from a previous relationship,” she elaborated.
The challenges at her workplace were compounded by her partner’s escalating behavior. “He would frequently appear unannounced at Citizen TV, demanding to see me. At times, he would confiscate my car, confining me indoors,” she disclosed, underscoring the personal hurdles she encountered.
Joyce’s ordeal reached its zenith when her husband became deeply engrossed in his church activities, losing himself in the process. Fearing the erosion of their relationship, she sought assistance from his parents, to no avail.
“One day, he packed his belongings and departed for an entire year. When my children inquired about his whereabouts, I resorted to falsehood, informing them of his demise,” Joyce painfully recounted.
The burden of maintaining this facade weighed heavily on her, particularly when her children questioned the absence of an invitation to their father’s purported funeral.
In addition to her marital tribulations, Joyce also unveiled her upbringing, recounting her upbringing in a polygamous household. “My father had five spouses and 33 offspring. My mother occupied the fifth position,” she shared, providing insight into her formative years and the intricate challenges she encountered from a tender age.
