The investigation into the death of 23-year-old Jeff Mwahti has taken a new turn, according to a recent report by Kururua TV. Jeff’s girlfriend, Faith Wairimu, refuted claims that Jeff was suicidal, stating that he was happy and had never attempted suicide before. She revealed that she was in constant contact with Jeff throughout the night he was with DJ Faxto and his friends, and he updated her on everything, even sending photos and videos of their activities.
The following morning, Faith received a call from a friend, Mutanu, who was with Jeff the previous night, asking if Jeff had arrived home safely. Faith’s attempts to reach Jeff via phone were futile, and Mutanu promised to call DJ Faxto to confirm his whereabouts. Faith later learned that Jeff had been reported missing and called DJ Faxto, who rudely told her to wait for the police to call her.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kinduke has ordered the DCI to investigate the incident and take the necessary action. The case has attracted a lot of attention, with Kenyans online using the hashtag #Justice for Jeff. The police report stated that Jeff was suicidal and jumped from the 10th floor of DJ Fatxo’s residence. However, a lady on Twitter shared photos, alleging that Jeff had been raped to death before his fall.
DJ Faxto, through his lawyer, has stated that he is willing to cooperate with the investigation to ensure justice for Jeff. Nonetheless, reports from popular Kikuyu blogger Martha Mwihaki Hinga suggest that there is an underhand power play to shield the musician from prosecution due to his connections.
