“I Spent Ksh.1.6Million Bleaching My Skin, Nilikua Na Upuzi sana “Kush Tracey Reveals

In an open conversation with Massawe Japanni, renowned media personality Kush Tracey revealed that her venture into skin lightening came with a hefty price tag of Sh1.6 million. This encompassed a variety of methods, such as injections, pills, powders, and more.

Tracey recounted a pivotal moment that triggered her journey. She recalled an incident where she spent Sh40,000 on a bleaching package, only to have it stolen from her car while she was out with friends. Undeterred by this setback, she repurchased the package and continued her pursuit of achieving a lighter complexion.

“I bought a package worth 40K, left it in the car, and went to the club with my friends. The car was broken into, and the package was gone. I went back, bought it again, and resumed bleaching,” explained the rapper.

Reflecting on the substantial amount she invested, she admitted, “The amount I used could have bought me a shamba,” underscoring the significant financial commitment she made in her quest for a specific beauty standard.

Throughout her journey, Tracey underwent injections, took pills, and used powders with the aim of inhibiting melanin formation. Interestingly, she emphasized that she never utilized services in the downtown area, indicating the upscale nature of her pursuit of an exclusive beauty standard. Tracey’s monthly expenses for her skin transformation were considerable, as a single package of lightening cream lasted only a month and cost approximately Sh45,000.

Discussing the impact on her physical health, Tracey mentioned developing varicose veins and avoiding sun exposure because her skin felt delicate like paper.

“For the powder, I would take it orally. I went on a trial-and-error escapade as I lacked the patience to wait for results. I had varicose veins; I couldn’t stay under the sun because my skin felt like paper,” she shared.

However, Tracey’s narrative took a turn when she began questioning the motives behind her actions. She consciously chose to stop bleaching after realizing she was pursuing an idealized beauty standard that didn’t align with her true self. After six months, she ceased injections and shifted to using natural oils, a step towards embracing her inherent beauty.

Tracey disclosed that the expenses incurred during this transformative journey were extraordinary, paying Sh45,000 per month for three years, totaling an amount exceeding Sh1.6 million.
